Every day will be casual Friday for some Arkansas deputies. Logan County Sheriff Boyd Hicks is letting his deputies ditch their uniforms for jeans. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the deputies will be able wear dark jeans or khakis, with a white shirt during the day or a black shirt at night. Officials say items recovered from a remote hunting cabin in the area been sent to labs for DNA testing to determine if they are linked to the escapees
 
Damaged homes, uprooted trees and downed power lines dot parts of Illinois and Michigan where severe storms and possible tornadoes swept through, causing a number of injuries. The Watkins company, maker of food extracts, is suing giant spice maker McCormick & Co. in federal court in Minneapolis/ . It claims McCormick is misleading consumers by secretly cutting the amount of pepper in its tins by 25 percent, without reducing the price. The search for two convicted murderers who bolted from prison in New York State last weekend has been expanded to neighboring Vermont as authorities acknowledge they have no idea about their whereabouts. Police expanded the search beyond state borders after investigators learned that before the breakout inmates had talked about going to Vermont.
