Tom is picking his teeth with a screwdriver and scratching his head with a fork. Weirdo!

We tried something new on Mother's Day..  Homemade Frostys..  Mmmmm..  It's easy and tastes like the real thing..  Here's what we did..

1/2 gallon chocolate milk
1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip  (we put a little more.. ha)
1 (14 ounce) can of sweetened condensed milk
All you have to do is combine all the ingredients into your ice cream maker and blend them together well.  Add your ice and salt, turn it on and enjoy when it's done.

Re: salt and ice
The salt and ice is what is used in an old-fashioned ice cream maker to freeze the container of ingredients into ice cream. It doesn't go into the final product. You would probably have a decent Frosty blending it with just ice in a blender, but thetexture would be like a Coollatta, not a Frosty.

ice cream
My parents made ice cream all my life. We used to sit on the freezer while someone hand cranked it. Lol. I love my electric freezer. My mom made orange sherbet & vanilla.I probably make some every couple of weeks in the summer. Ice cream is better ifonce it is done you cover the top of freezer with ice & cover top with a towel.

re: 1%VD milk
You know Chocolate milk from the stores is only 2% milk right? Unless you get real milk like Byne's or Halo.

Alternative to making it without an ice cream maker
If you mix the ingredients together and put them in the freezer for 15 minutes you should be able to blend then and it will make a frosty

Some ppl are totally rude and abnoxious! Not everyone has an ice cream maker or even know about them! Geesh! Lighten up!
06/04/2015 1:43AM
ice and salt
How much ice do u put in the separate baggie from the milk whipped cream and condensed milk
06/04/2015 3:15PM
A lot of people here are just very rude. Wow. Some people don't have the luxury of having an ice cream maker so, yes, they're allowed to ask questions. Another way to make this are re-sealable baggies or coffee cans of different sizes. Put the ingredients into one bag/coffee can. Seal it tight. In another bag/coffee can, put in your salt and ice. Seal that tight. With a friend, depending on what you use, roll or toss your future frosty back and forth for about 10 minutes, checking up on it every few minutes to avoid spillage.

home made frosty
I dont have an ie cream machine but i have a great blender would that work?
06/14/2015 2:29AM
No ice cream maker...
I don't have an ice cream maker, so I was going to try freezing the Cool Whip and blending it all instead. As a kid, I remember rolling coffee cans around with my siblings to make ice cream as someone mentioned above, so I might try that with my husband depending on how blending goes. (:
06/30/2015 2:07PM
Why all the hatin'?
I don't get why there had to be nasty comments, rude and of noxious behavior on an ice cream post! I don't think it's kind to say that people who don't know how to use an ice cream maker should stay out of the kitchen. It's called learning, people. You learn by asking questions. And to those of you who don't know how to treat people who ask questions, stay OUT of the classroom, and DON't have any children.

Ice cream maker alternative
Option a: Google how to make ice cream w/o an ice cream maker. B. Follow the suggestions above. Or c. Mix ingredients together, freeze for ten minutes, mix more, freeze more repeat till it's the consistency you want. d. Go to Wendy's And seriously, I am LMAO, I'm sure there are people with electric ice cream makers wondering about the ice and salt, bc yes, people are just that stupid.

ice cream makers
A great time to buy a ice cream maker is at the end of summer. A lot of times you can find them in the clearance aisle at Walmart. Otherwise they are not really expensive and really worth having, especially if you've never had homemade ice cream before!
07/08/2015 7:37AM
ice cream maker part 2
Best salt to use is Morton's Ice Cream Salt and really inexpensive. It helps if ice is in small cubes, mix the two between the outside wall of container of contents and inside of the walls of the ice cream maker. Turn on, keep adding both and followinstructions according to your ice cream maker! When done enjoy! No need for the nasty remarks!
