Greenville's Shriners Children's Hospital May Close!

I got a touching e-mail from a listener today and I wanted to pass it along to all of you.  It seems that Greenville's Shriners Children's Hospital may possibly be closed due to the bad economy.  Here is the e-mail that I received from Teresa Greenway: Our son Dillon has been going to Shriner's  for 8+ years, he has Cerebral Palsy, he was born 3 months early at only 27 weeks and only weighing 1 pound and 13 oz. We have seen miracles happen at this hospital. Dillon had extensive leg surgery on both of his legs in 2004, prior to this surgery Dillon's mobility was very, very limited. Since his surgery he is now able to walk with the aid of a walker and do alot of independent walking here at home in the house with only holding on to the furniture and walls.

I can not tell you all what this has meant to our family. Dillon has always known that he is (different) from other kids and he knows he has CP.

But the Shriner's hospital has given Dillon a great advantage to do more things he has always wanted but not sure he could do .

He is working towards his eagle badge with the boy scouts and  is able to keep up with most things the boy scouts do, he just wants to be and feel like a (regular) kid, and the Shriner's hospital has helped him with that.

We are not sure if Dillon will face future surgeries, but the chances are that he will. and it would mean alot to him and our family if it were at our Shriner in Greenville, SC. He would know that he was not that far away from home here in Greenwood.

The Shriner's Hospital mean alot to A LOT of people and it is very special to my family. The only request I ask is that if everyone that has read this email would PLEASE take the time to write a letter or just a short note to the Shriner Hospital Headquarter in Tampa Fl. asking them to please not consider closing this wonderful hospital.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and sending a letter in the hopes that we will still have the Shriner Hospital in Greenville and they can continue to do miracles.
